First Nations Specific Lighting Attachment

In this role you will gain a comprehensive understanding of how a Lighting team operates within an Australian TV series. You will acquire hands-on experience as a Lighting Assistant, boosting your confidence and skills in handling, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical equipment.

Contract Length: 8 weeks

Rate:

Industry standard rate – to be discussed at interview stage, plus super and holiday pay.  

5 x 10 hr days (full time) Paid Overtime when required

Location:Perth, WA, On set, including away locations.

 

Key Skills Req:

  • Experience in electrics or lighting (stage, screen or events) is an advantage and a genuine interest in lighting as a career is essential. 
  • A foundational understanding in or interest to learn about lighting equipment, programming, and power systems, and a willingness to engage in hands-on tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within the chain of command, following instructions while contributing to team objectives.
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced environments, maintaining a calm and professional demeanour.
  • Attention to Detail and ability to listen to instructions.
  • Precision in handling and maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.

    Anticipated Tasks and Requirements:

      • Following briefs from the Gaffer to learn about lighting and power requirements for each scene.
      • Assisting in the care and maintenance of gear, ensuring equipment is clean, functional, and properly stored.
      • Working with the Genny Operator to set up and balance power distribution across the set
      • Setting up and supporting the management of lighting and gear stashes, including preparing machinery and protective setups for varying weather conditions.
      • Preparing and charging equipment
      • Shadowing the Gaffer during block-throughs with department heads
      • Assisting in setting up wireless protocol systems for controlling lamps and ensuring seamless integration with on-set requirements.
      • This role requires good physical fitness and stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, lift equipment, and perform manual tasks as needed.
