Mentoring Skills For Senior Crew in Perth

Experience Level

Mid

LENGTH:

FULL DAY

Are you a Head of Department or senior crew member responsible for the supervision and skills development of more junior crew or of trainees and attachments who are brought onto a production?

This one-day workshop will provide the practical tools required to support and mentor an attachment, trainee or placement and create a positive experience for them and for the production.

Sessions will cover:

What is Mentoring: Learn how to establish a developmental relationship where an experienced individual guides and supports another’s personal and professional growth.

Auditing Skills & Setting Goals: Look at how to do a skills audit of the attachment to evaluate current abilities, identify areas for improvement, and define clear, achievable training plan for the skills that can be taught on the production.

Stages of the Mentoring Process: Understand the steps of creating a mentoring relationship, establishing goals, providing guidance and evaluating progress.

Developing a Professional Partnership: Explore the tools required to build a professional partnership, create mutual trust, align goals and expectations and create open and safe communication between mentor and attachment. We also discuss approaches to training and adult learning.

Assessing Success: Assessing success involves measuring progress towards goals, evaluating the effectiveness of the mentoring relationship, and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.

Next Steps: Reviewing actions to take the mentor and mentee to the next step in their career, building on the skills they’ve developed to the next job.

All participants will have access to three online “Mentoring Deep Dive” workshops. These will cover subjects relating specifically to mentoring – eg How to find a mentee once you have mentoring skills, How to develop a plan with a mentee – and will be offered over a six-month period after the workshop.

This workshop is presented with the kind support of Screenwest and the Government of Western Australia.

We’re excited to be partnering with ABC Perth to bring this workshop to you in person in Perth CBD.
